James R. Love | Pastor

Since the last Sunday of March, 2000, James R. Love has been the pastor. He has a BA in Pastoral Theology from Independent Baptist College, an MA in New Testament Backgrounds from Cincinnati Bible Seminary, and has recently earned his Doctorate. He has also taken many continuing education classes at Hebrew Union College. He also served as an Associate Pastor in a different church for 9 years, as well as a principal and teacher in a Christian school.

Pastor Love has been married to Tammy since April 1981 and they have 3 daughters: April, Charissa, and Brittany. All three girls are married to young men that are active in church. They currently have nine beautiful grandchildren.

On top of pastoral duties, Pastor Love serves as the local Police Chaplain and Public Information Officer (PIO). He also works closely with local funeral homes. 

Pastor Love enjoys playing racquetball, riding his motorcycle, occasionally hacking at a golf ball, camping with grandkids, but mostly reading with a VERY good cup of coffee.

Bryan Hoskins| Associate Pastor

Bryan Hoskins is currently Associate Pastor at SBC. He has been involved in ministry for over 20 years. He pastored a church in Eaton, OH for over 5 years. Before that, he was an assistant pastor for one year, and a Youth Pastor for 10 years.

His ministry training was received at Heartland Baptist Bible College and within his local church. Bryan strives to assist Pastor Love with anything that is needed. He helps with preaching, teaching, discipleship, and music ministry. Bryan has returned to the church in which he grew up since the age of 3 and has a great love for the Church.

He has been married to Charissa Hoskins for almost twenty years and has two teenagers, Taylor and Ben. He enjoys spending time with his family, and when possible, attending local car shows to enjoy the classics, plus some grilling. Bryan is the middle son in law to Pastor Love and thinks that he is the favorite and most handsome of all son in laws.

Tom Skaggs| Deacon

Tom Skaggs has been a member of Southland since 2002. He was ordained as a Deacon in September 2010. Over the years he has served in Children’s ministry, taught both Master Clubs and Sunday School classes, is involved in our nursing home ministry, GriefShare, Discipleship, and recently took over the ministry for our Seniors in Service which serves the older members at Southland.

Tom has been married to his wife, Sue, since August 1975. They were blessed with two sons who have since passed away and are in the presence of our Lord. Sue works with and assists Tom in various ministries as needed. 

Outside of church Tom & Sue are enjoying the retired life. They enjoy traveling, camping, car shows, entertaining family and friends in their home, and enjoy the company of their three rescue dogs, Stu, Kobe, and Rue.

Tom’s life verse is Psalms 19:14  Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
